A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US
WHERE OUR STORY BEGAN
Inverell Rugby Club has stood as a pillar of camaraderie & sportsmanship in our local community for over a century, making it the heart and soul of rugby in our region. With a reputation of success by fielding senior, junior & womens players at a local, state, national & international level. Our beloved club has been a source of pride for generations of rugby enthusiasts.
I979 saw an empty patch of land transformed into the bustling rugby hub we know today. The Inverell club opened their current grounds and clubhouse after several years hard work to achieve these facilities. Since then, Inverell teams have reached the finals several times and won the Central North first-grade grand final in 2006 and 2008.
Along with our Senior Club, we have our Junior Highlanders who are a large part of our community. We have teams of all ages that are popular with both boys and girls. Our juniors have their own competition made up of training at Rugby Park & Gala Comps.
The Women’s 7 Rugby competition started in 2017 and has become a major part of the Central North rugby community since then. Again, our Womens side has fielded amazing teams over the years, with players now contracted at a professional level with the Australian Women’s 7s squad.
From grass roots to grandstands, the club has evolved over the years, breathing life into aspiring rugby players of all ages. The Home of Inverell Rugby, has seen its fair share of triumphs and challenges, but it has always stood strong, an emblem of unity within our community.
